Booking & Cancellation Policy

Rates: All of our prices are based upon a minimum rental period of 4 nights. Certain flats are available for 3 night stays; although we require a minimum of a 4-night stay when reserving more than one month in advance. 3-night stays may be reserved only when booked within one month of arrival. On a case by case basis, we may accept 3 night bookings that occur more than one month in advance of arrival, provided that these bookings do not create significant gaps on our rental calendar.

Initial Payment: All payments are collected in US dollars. In order to secure your reservation, we require a deposit equal to 50% of the rent.  For reservations of three weeks or more, the required deposit is 25%.  Payment is requested by credit card, wire or check.

Final Payment:  The remainder of the rent is due 8 weeks before your arrival.  If a reservation is made within 8 weeks of arrival, then the entire amount is due upon booking.

Security Deposit:  Unlike most rental management companies AtHomeAbroad does not charge a security deposit.  However, by signing this contract you agree that any damage or loss of property beyond normal wear and tear will be charged to your credit card We have seldom had to charge a guest’s credit card for damage and have never had a dispute.

Cancellation Policy:  The cancellation of a booking must be made in writing and will be accepted for a full refund, minus an 8% or $80.00 (whichever is greater) processing fee, if received at least 8 weeks prior to your arrival date.  If you cancel less than 8 weeks before the arrival date, your deposit/payment will be forfeited unless we are able to re-rent the apartment for your dates.

AtHomeAbroad will not be held responsible for cancellations for any reason. We recommend that you take out trip cancellation insurance for your trip for extra protection and peace of mind. Travel Guard International is a firm that sells trip cancellation insurance, and AtHomeAbroad is an authorized agent.

Cleaning:  There is a one time cleaning fee.  This charge depends on the size of the apartment and the number of guests in your party.

Infants: It is possible to rent a baby cot / crib at an additional cost of $45.00 for the duration of your stay.

Arrival and Departure: An arrival meeting will be scheduled at the apartment with a member of the Paris AtHomeAbroad team. You will be given the keys and a tour of the apartment.

Normal check-in time is between 2 PM and 7 PM; although we do allow for people to arrive earlier at the apartment to drop their bags off and to pick up the keys. Every so often, we have same day arrivals and departures, which can lead to a cleaning overlap with your arrival. In such cases, we ask that you be patient while the cleaning team finishes up their work. When these overlaps arise, we suggest that you go out and have a leisurely breakfast while savouring the joy of being in Paris. Please note that arrivals after 7 PM incur a Late Arrival Fee of $75.00.

All arrivals on the following Holidays in France are subject to a one time $75.00 charge, due to the difficulty and cost of finding people to greet tenants on these days:

  • May 1st - The French Labor Day
  • July 14th - The French Independence Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Eve
  • New Year’s Day

Checkout is normally 10:00 am.  

Maintenance:  Please report any maintenance or housekeeping problems immediately.  Even the best appliances occasionally malfunction and we cannot guarantee them to perform 100% of the time. We do, however, promise to correct any problem as soon as possible.  There will be no refunds due to maintenance problems.

Important Notice regarding telephone, internet and television amenities: Most all of the distinctive apartments and rental properties we offer come with television, telephone and internet access services. The owners of these properties provide these amenities, but there is no one standard that applies to all properties. We do our best to assure that these services are operating at time of your arrival. Should you encounter a service problem, please call our staff, and we will attempt to solve the problem during your stay.

Please understand that we are not able to warrant against service interruptions, which are rare but are beyond our control, since service providers may perform maintenance work or systems may suffer life cycle service interruptions, a fact of life even in a city as modern as Paris. Please note that no refunds or account adjustments will be made for such interruptions.

Restrictions: All apartments are limited in the number of guests they can accomodate. Some also have age restrictions for children.  These restrictions are there to protect both the interests of the apartment owner and the serenity of the adjoining neighbors. Accomodating overnight guests in excess of the agreed number in your party is prohibited and will result in immediate cancellation of the rental with no refund.

Limitation of Liability:  Our liability is limited to the amount of any rentals and deposits paid.  In no event shall we be liable for consequential damages.
