Rue Vaneau in the 7th arrondissement
From the rue de Sèvres to the Orsay Museum
The rue VANEAU apartment in situated on the inner courtyard of a 19th century limestone building. The setting is serene and quiet, to say the least, with a lovely planting of trees and shrubs in the courtyard. One of the finest gourmet food stores in Paris, the Bonmarché’s LA GRANDE EPICERIE, is also less than 100 yards from the apartment, down the rue de Sèvres. The apartment itself is very spacious with a warm, informal décor. There is parquet flooring and all of the modern amenities you would expect in a furnished apartment (washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc), as well as an elevator in the building for easy access. With 1 bathroom and 1 bedroom plus a bed couch, the apartment can sleep a group of 4 people, provided they know each other well, since there are only 2 queen size beds (one of which is the bed couch). The apartment also gets morning sunlight and has good cross ventilation, with windows on both sides of the apartment.
By walking straight down the rue Vaneau, you end up at the Orsay Museum, which is a former train station that was converted in the grandiose 19th century museum dedicated to French art of the 19th century. Situated on the south banks of the Seine, the Orsay acts as a cultural and architectural counterweight to the Louvre museum almost directly across the river.
The Vaneau station is right around the corner from the apartment, and the Vaneau station metro line runs straight to the ROLAND GARROS French Open tennis tournament, which takes place every year in late May/early June.
Like most any central Parisian, Left Bank apartment, you will find that everything that you could possibly need is within a short distance, from outdoor food markets to gourmet specialty shops, along with the best of the Parisian historic sites to be seen. There is no comparison with staying in a hotel versus staying in your own furnished flat in one of the most exclusive locations in central Paris.
