Notre Dame – Quai aux Fleurs
a bird's eye view
The sky is the limit! And oh, what a sky it is...we might even say that the NOTRE DAME - QUAI AUX FLEURS flat is all about the sky and feeling elated at the view from above. You will end up knowing just how a bird feels from her nest perched up high. To be sure, in this small yet airy flat, you have all of the creature comforts you will need to stay put and contented. No need to fly out around the town in search of action (or worms), since you are already there, in the very heart of this majestic city.
Thank goodness there is an elevator to take you up and down, for so many of these old buildings in central Paris cannot be equipped with elevators, either because of narrow stairwells or historic preservation rules and regulations. Aside from the modest space limited to 2 people, you have everything you may need to be happy and there are no limits to the pleasure you can derive from this heavenly retreat. Lest you forget, two is all you need for romance in the City of Light.
Throughout the day, the sunlight pours into your life from 3 of 4 sides. You can shut it out to sleep if you so desire; but why deprive yourself of this wondrous pastel light that is so unique to Paris? Why deny yourself the romantic setting that this perch provides? Why not wake up with the sun (that is, if you have not been out all night)? The views include a magnificent presentation of the Ile St. Louis and the Seine River as well as a sumptuous display of the Right Bank with the Hotel de Ville and the St Gervais Gothic church towering above the skyline. Once you are well ensconced, you may choose to dine in, or eat out, watch a DVD, or divvy up a delicious Berthillon ice cream from the Ile St. Louis across the way.
Pretty much everything is at a stone’s throw from this flat. The Ile de la Cité flower market is right out the door. Notre Dame Cathedral is around the corner. The Marais is just over the river, and many major museums are only a short walk away. No hotel offers such a bird’s eye view, nor can it match the combination of perks that you have with the proximity of major monuments.
There may not be a better flat in Paris for romance as well. Designed for two, you may choose to stay put, eat in and simply watch the river flow by. This is clearly a honeymooner’s paradise! (Or a unique spot to spend your wedding anniversary).
You may feel light hearted in this airy abode…A perfectly placed Parisian bird’s nest it truly is! But please, we beg of you, do not to try and fly out the window…you may just forget your keys!

Porter+Michel+Louise,
What a wonderful week – what a great apartment! We couldn’t have been happier with the location. The views are spectacular, the people-watching was lots of fun too.
This was our first time in Paris, actually our first time outside the US. After a week, we are absolutely in love with Paris – the architecture, the history, the people – it was even better than expected.
Thank you for being so quick to accommodate our request for a hair dryer and iron – I appreciated it.
Some great things about the apartment that we wish we had in the US (aside from the views already mentioned) – windows that open two different ways; the handy, compact washer/dryer; the comfortable and easy to use fold out couch.
Thank you for allowing us to christen this new rental – we’d love to come back.
